Question #1:
Should this guy be a proffesor and have immense influence on our schools?
Bill Ayers is a Professor at the University of Illinois. And was granted almost $50 million to reform Chicago's education system. His most famous quote is:"Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, kill your parents, that's where it's really at."
Is this the right guy to reform our education system. How did this guy get to a position of authority? His wife Bernardine Dohrn's famous reaction to the Manson killings, as conveyed by journalist Peter Collier:
"Dig it. First they killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them, then they even shoved a fork into a victim's stomach! Wild!"
I am appalled. I can't believe that our kids should be influenced by these people in school.
Question #2:
Are there grants for people like me who want to teach?
I want to teach either kindergarten or elementary school and I was wondering if there are grants out there that will pay off my college education entirely.I need to know because I'm applying for online classes to Towson for the Spring semester and I really need a way to pay off my college completely.Any links would be appreciated, same with advice.
Question #3:
Do I have the right amout of safety/backup/reach schools?
Hi! I'm a senior in high school and I got a 32 on the ACT and I have a 3.75 gpa unweighted and 4.17 gpa weighted. I took quite a few honors classes, and I will have taken 4 AP classes. (I got all 4s on my previous AP tests)I've been in quite a few clubs including Key Club, a club assisting special education classes, I'm in Spanish NHS, I volunteer at a hospital once a week, and I play Varsity Softball.
Anyway, these are the schools I am planning on applying to:
USC, UCLA, University of Virginia, University of Chicago, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and University of Alabama.
My first choice is USC, but close behind are UCLA and Virginia. I would rather go to these schools, but I would still be thrilled if I got into Chicago.
Wisconsin-Madison is a school that I would be happy at, it's kind of close to home, and it's still a good school. I'm confident that I could get in.
I'm applying to Alabama because I know that with my grades and ACT score, I'm guaranteed 4 years full tuition. So basically, I could go there for free, and I'm pretty positive that I will get in. So Alabama's my safety school.
So does this seem like a good plan? Do you guys think that I could get into USC, UCLA, Virginia, or Chicago? (I'm not sure which one is the most exclusive)
By the way, I live in Chicago, if that makes a difference. And my family is middle class, so we would struggle a bit, but potentially we can pay tuition for these schools. (I'm hoping that I can get grants and scholarships though.)
Question #4:
Are people really devoted to freedom and independence or is that just a myth?
I came across two examples that suggest the opposite. The first is the position of many of the former colonies of the old European powers(mostly small islands) whose people have absolutely no desire to be granted independence(even though many of their sovereign states would be only too glad to dump them) since life is much easier and more comfortable under the aegis and economic support of a foreign power.
The second is in benevolent dictatorships like in the case of the kingdom of Brunei. They get free education, healthcare, insurance, etc. over there by the govt. since it's a tiny nation with vast oil reserves and so has a massively disproportionate amount of wealth as compared to it's population and so the govt takes care of all the people's needs. But the king has absolute authority in the state over the judiciary and govt. He can do as he pleases. No one minds since they have such comfortable lives there.
In some ways it reminds one of God in that people are happy to "surrender" themselves to His Will in the hopes that that will grant them eternal peace and happiness. In other words, we don't seem to mind being (essentially) slaves as long as we can lead comfortable lives.
So is the claim that every human being has a burning desire for freedom and self-determination just a myth propogated to make us seem somehow deeper and more admirable as a race than we actually are? Are we simply interested in shallow pleasure and willing to sacrifice our supposed cherished desire for emancipation to whosoever is willing to provide us with the good life?
Question #5:
Am I wrong to be angry about the way my race is being treated in this country?
Has the "equal rightes movement" gone too far? I am denied the benefits that everyone else in the country takes for granted. Housing, healthcare and education.Question #6:
Should we grant free college educations U. students seek DREAM Act passage?
SALT LAKE CITY — Illegal-immigrant students at the University of Utah called Friday for the state's senators to help pass the DREAM Act this year, which would allow children of illegal-immigrant parents a pathway to citizenship by attending college."These young people are Americans in every way but their citizenship, and it helps no one to keep them undocumented," said Karen Crompton, executive director of Voices for Utah Children at a press conference and rally at the university.
The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act applies to children of illegal-immigrant parents who entered the country before age 16.
Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, first introduced a version of the bill in 2001 — saying most of the young people it would help had no choice on whether to enter the country illegally. Many do not remember their home countries. Hatch was attacked at the time by many fellow Republicans who said the proposal would create an amnesty program, and potentially attract more illegal immigrants to come here.
The DREAM Act has changed over the years, and Hatch is no longer a co-sponsor of it. Hatch declined repeated requests for an interview.
Students at the rally on Friday held signs asking Hatch and Sen. Bob Bennett, R-Utah, to pass the bill now."It is time to pass the DREAM Act. It is time for our generation to take responsibility for all of America's children — whether they were born here or came in innocence," said Theresa Martinez, a sociology professor at the university.

Question #7:
Christians: Where is your God?
Here’s a real life example for you idiots to think about. When I got my first job at 15, I was paid barely above minimum wage and had 2 shifts a week. I made less than 150 dollars a month, but I started to sponsor a child in Africa through world vision. It cost me about 20% of my total paycheque ($35 a month), but I felt like I was making a difference in this child’s life. I still have a hand written letter from his mom with an English translation attached. She was so incredibly thankful, telling me the conditions they lived in before I started sponsoring them. Sometimes they were so deprived of food that they were forced to eat sand to quell the hunger. Now they had clean water and basic food rations, and the child even started going to school!!
Of course as luck would have it, the economy took a turn for the worst and I lost my job. I saved what little I could to support them for as long as possible before my bank account was overdrawn. A month later World Vision sent me a letter asking me why that was the case. Do any of you know what it feels like to call them up and try to give a reason to why you’re cutting off a family’s life support? Granted they were polite about it, and fairly understanding considering I no longer had a job. It doesn’t really change the fact that the family now has to go back to eating sand and wondering when their next sponsor will show up.
Where is your God now? Up there in “heaven” laughing at my misery and the poor family’s misfortune? You’re worshipping a deity that allows this kind of monstrosity to exist in the world. That family was not alone; millions of people in the third world live a similar life, getting by day to day just trying to survive. Why is your god standing by while those people suffer? Does such a God deserve to be worshipped? You live a comfortable life in the first-world with access to food, water, and education (fat good that did you considering you still believe in God). You don’t have the slightest clue how much suffering there is in the world. Of course it’s easy for you to utter some generic religious garbage like “God has a plan for us all”. Try living their lives for a day, and then see if you still think God is looking out for you.
I can’t believe you idiots actually have the audacity to ask me and every other atheist why we have no faith and does not accept God in our lives. Worshipping a disgraceful “God” that allows this level of injustice to exist is no different than worshipping the devil. Take your paycheques and buy yourselves a new conscience you stinking hypocrites.
Question #8:
Can someone help me understand how I am going to pay for college?
I live in Ontario Canada and as most Canadian know, we are one of the highest countries in the world that puts money towards education (besides France of course!) and I know that I can also get my education paid for (grants, loans, scholarships etc.) but I don't want to have to owe OSAP (Ontario Student Assistant Program) money for the first 10 years of my life. How can I pay for college without getting loans?!I will be going to college in September of 2011 so that give me 10-12 months to save!
I have searched and searched for scholarships, but the whole things is so confusing!
Also, while on my search for scholarships, I came across a forum saying that students have been writing to locally owned businesses and large corporations asking for money! Has anyone every tried doing this for real? Did it work for them? I know that this is Canada and I'm sure businesses/ people would LOVE to help each other out, but I'm still worried about asking. THANKS FOR READING!
Question #9:
Financial aid for postgraduate students?
(This question is about American universities). I've heard that it's much easier for international postgraduate students to get financial aid compared to undergraduate students. I also know that for certain subjects (medicine, law and business) financial aid isn't available while for others (science, math) it's very easily available. What about education? Would someone who wants to do a master's in education be able to easily get financial aid in the form of grants, teaching assistantships or research assistantships?Question #10:
Why should we be so grateful for what should have been granted to us as citizens of Malaysia?
After long years of injustice and abuse of powers, we people are so scared of even asking for our own rights. Free education for all races and birthright should be our ingrained rights and do not have to thank anyone and don't have to beg !Question #11:

My son is 23 years old and loves anything to do with mechanics. He has all the proper tools and the ability and knowledge. All he needs is the education and inspection license. But he doesn't have the money to go to the proper school. Is there any schools within approx. a 60 mile radius of Sunbury, Pa where he could possibly get a federal grant to help him attend such a school??Question #12:
Did you know that our DC Bureaucrats had a big funding party yesterday for an Islamic Terrorist organization?
Concerned citizen Christine Brim writes:On August 31, this coming Tuesday, the Muslim Brotherhood-associated “Coordinating Council of Muslim Organizations” (CCMO) will bring 25-30 Muslim leaders of 20 national Muslim groups to attend a special workshop presented by the White House and U.S. Government agencies (Agriculture, Education, Homeland Security, Health and Human Services etc.) to provide the groups “funding, government assistance and resources.” The workshop will apparently provide special access for these Muslim Brotherhood organizations: the organizers pledge to provide “direct access” and “cut through red tape.” Government and Muslim groups will hold an Iftar dinner (breaking the fast of Ramadan) after the workshop.
She then described her attempt to find out who was getting what, when and why. Basic questions REPORTERS used to be known to ask and get answered. Did OUR GOVERNMENT respond? Not really. They stonewalled. No transparency! No accountability.
Exactly how much money are we giving to our enemies in Islam? I guess as of 1 September 2010 -- today -- we can no longer count our DC Bureaucrats as friendly. NOT WHEN THEY SUPPORT A MURDEROUS BROTHERHOOD!

Question #13:
I want to teach English is Sweden, but how?
Well, my question is in the topic. I am attending university right now. Granted, it is my first year. However, I really do want to do this. I am majoring in English education and plan on getting certified to teach history as well. My boyfriend lives in Sweden, well is from Sweden, and for a majority of his time he lives there. So, I assume I can learn Swedish from him, and take formal classes in Sweden for Swedish. (My university, like most universities, don't offer Swedish as a foreign language.)Should I continue with English education? Or should I talk to someone? I mean, I have talked to my academic advisor and he directed me toward the foreign language department however, I want to know a bit more about this before I go busting into this woman's office with no idea what to ask and/or expect.
*Thank you, for future reference (NOT saying I wouldn't want it to work out) but this idea came into my head long before he showed up. So, even if we weren't together later on (knock on wood) it wouldn't have an effect on my want for this type of job.
** I am an American

Fellow Progressives: Why does it seem like Obama has changed so dramatically since the election?
While he is pandering to the right and independents, he is losing his core base. People like me that got him elected. Didn't push hard enough for the public option and politicized the reform. flip flopped on offshore drilling(of course before the spill). transparency is nowhere to be found...what happened to the middle class tax cuts and tax increases on the rich to pay for new initiatives for economic growth like education grants and loans that students would pay back with community service? rebuilding of the infrastructure of the country and so on? Combatting issues of civil rights and equal justice. well, I have seen some of that..like the cocaine/crack sentencing inequalities being addressed..but I've just been disappointed. Of course I realize that the alternative would have been catastropic.Jeff Lebowski just sent chills through my spine..Thanks for giving me nightmares tonight.
Question #16:
Do you get frusterated when you get a new dog?
I have a GSD, I'd like to say I trained her very well.Things like being calm, walking in a heel, not running out of her yard, she doesnt bark at people or dogs walking down the road whether shes at the window or inside, & knows some pretty impressive commands/behaviors. Just things like that you're proud of or impressed by.
This is probably my first -real- dog. As a kid, you dont really know much about training, education, etc. So when I got this dog 4 years ago as a puppy, I really tried hard to mold a really good clay.
Granted, not everyting went perfect. Shes not very dog - person socialized, I live rural and people around here are very "self reliant", and also have pretty aggressive dogs. No thanks. Not many people come over and I dont consider myself to have an awful lot of friends.
Anywho, I was roaming around the pet store and there was a German Shepherd in the front window. I would never buy from a pet store, I know better. But I had time to waste and so I took it out into the pen where you meet the dog.
This dog was all over the place, biting hands, purses, hair, barking, pulling on the leash, peeing. And I thouht to my self .. oh my god, what is it going to be like when my dog passes on and I evetually get a new dog? It's like you get use to things going so smoothly and then you have to start all over.
Well It could account for older dogs as well, say from a rescue or shelter. It's just the adjusting to the dog not yet knowing/understanding, or even never having the same concept for things as maybe a older dog you had did.
Question #17:
For a non muslim why is Obama giving them such access?

Question #18:
Why do blacks embrace the Democratic Party ?
In reading The Rise and Fall of Jim Crow. I find this passage most interesting. Most whites rallied around the Democratic Party as the party of white supremacy. Between 1868 and 1871, terrorist organizations, especially the Ku Klux Klan, murdered blacks and whites who tried to exercise their right to vote or receive an education. The Klan, working with Democrats in several states, used fraud and violence to help whites regain control of their state governments. By the early 1870s, most Southern states had been "redeemed" -- as many white Southerners called it -- from Republican rule. By the time the last federal troops had been withdrawn in 1877, Reconstruction was all but over and the Democratic Party controlled the destiny of the South.-- Richard Wormser
It would explain why the Honorable Senator Robert Byrd lasted so long in the Democratic Party. As I read further in this interesting site. I find it curious in wondering just how many blacks have read it or even bothered to read more about Jim Crow.
Whom was Jim Crow These words are from the song, "Jim Crow," as it appeared in sheet music written by Thomas Dartmouth "Daddy" Rice. Rice, a struggling "actor" (he did short solo skits between play scenes) at the Park Theater in New York, happened upon a Black person singing the above song -- some accounts say it was an old Black slave who walked with difficulty, others say it was a ragged Black stable boy. Whether modeled on an old man or a young boy we will never know, however, it is clear that in 1828 Rice appeared on stage as "Jim Crow" -- an exaggerated, highly stereotypical Black character.
But Jim Crow came to be, more often used to describe the segregation laws, rules, and customs which arose after Reconstruction ended in 1877 and continued until the mid-1960s. How did the name become associated with these "Black Codes" which took away many of the rights which had been granted to Blacks through the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments?
I am not saying that the Jim Crow era was in any way fair or good for American People, and it was by no means fair to the Blacks. It was an abomination, that has ripped this country down the middle every sense the eighteen hundreds. I also find it curious that it was actually the Then called Radical Republican wing of the Republican Party that wanted emancipation, and supported abolition.
Anyway, I will continue to read these stories. As it find them interesting. I am sorry to say, as a White man, that I never really found much reason to look into Jim Crow. But now that I have I can understand better how Blacks felt, but I don't understand their embracing the Democratic Dogma, with such fervor. I still say that its really the Democratic Party that keeps their foot on the neck of our Black black Citizens. You might notice that I use the word Black. that is because I don't think it makes any sense to have to call them African-Americans. We are either all Americans, or we are not. I don't think that any of the current generations of Blacks, have been forcibly brought to this country, as slaves or anything else. To me anybody that is a citizen, by birth or nationalization are just Americans, and always will be. Having your ancestral country, your religion, or any other identity makes no sense to me.

Well, I think that you had better read and research further.
I care because you are just as much an American than I am, unless of course you think I owe you something more than that. And because your a human being. Is there anything more important than that. If you were a sponge, i might have my doubts.
i would further say, that I care, about the history of these United States, and its Citizens, regardless of what ethnic background they have. I also feel as strongly about how this country treated and still treats the Native Americans, And you might notice I did not use a hyphen. That is because they are the true Americans. Buy fact that we were the usurper's. And we started mistreating them before we started mistreating the Blacks. and then the Chinese, And the Hispanics. Unless we come together as just Americans, we are destined to repeat history. And that would be tragic.
Martin Luther King, once had a dream, of unity and freedom for all Americans. I to have a dream. That it comes true, and that this melting pot of peoples, unites, and moves forward as a free and understanding people. Yes it will be hard, but it takes us all to work it out. The sad thing is neither political party is going to do that. It takes the people, to be honest and open with themselves and their fellow citizens. You can throw the hateful wards back and forth until time in memorial, and it won't change a thing, now will it. I say treat each other as a individual, and private person. Then come together for the collective good.
well Loveylada, I have not seen the job market grow yet, I have not seen education improve, and I have seen on that is the Union grow. I have not seen the health care improve, in fact I see it getting worse, and sooner than later. In fact I have seen nothing get better with more tax and spend policies, and more entitlement polices. As for taxes until you have a system in which everybody pays a fair share of tax on the money they make, nobody will benefit.
Well its about time that all the voters stop drinking the cool-aid. and learn for themselves what the issues are, from both sides. And make informed decisions when voting. And not just following all the lemmings, with that warm tingly felling up their legs. You don't vote somebody in office based on their Race, Ethnic, Creed, Gender, Color, or Religion. You vote them into office on your informed views on the issues. And how that person can help the citizens, withing the guidelines of the Constitution. Not based on ideology, progressive, socialist or religious beliefs. I find it so sad that so many just vote because they can, or because they buy what somebody else is feeding them, with is often times bigoted, or biased beyond belief. I also find it sad that a good many questioned as to why they voted, or asked about an issue, they have no logical answer......

They kept calling me to go to school and harrassing me in a since til no tomorrow. I would never recoment this school to ANYONE. They will take advantage of you big time. I just don't know if there is anytime I can do and has anyone else had trouble with this school. I have found websites that people are suing the university. Theres more that one of the websites too as well. I've found two or three different places.Click Here …

Spend all this money for a dimploma from this school is nothing compared to a traditional college dimploma. You will spend hundreds and thousands of dollar's for nothing. There are some people that are doing well in the program so far. But they wait to BITE you in the BUT when you're about done with school they wont pass you for some reason to permit you from acutally graduating. Stalling and adding more tuitution for you to go to school even longer. Thats the thing with financial advisors and academic counselors. Question #20:
Prison camps for welfare recipients?
Finally a solution for reusing jails. BUT there are better uses for prisons. It should not be used for those on welfare ! A good use and a humanitarian one would be to use them for homeless people, getting them shelter, getting them off drugs , giving them and education and trade. The word Prison Camps should be changed to Helping Camps. Why should prison camps help those on welfare? Doesn't just about all community colleges teach trades or help with getting degrees on a Pell Grant? Shouldn't the government, since they want to use old prisons, find a way of getting homeless or those addicted to drugs a safe and educated environment in which to live?Or use them for disaster victims?
