Question #2:

How are illegals helping us out when L.A. County welfare to children of illegal immigrants grows & amnesty?

Welfare payments to children of illegal immigrants in Los Angeles County increased in July to $52 million, prompting renewed calls from one county supervisor to rein in public benefits to such families.

The payments, made to illegal immigrants for their U.S. citizen children, included $30 million in food stamps and $22 million from the CalWorks welfare program, according to county figures released Friday by Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

The new figure represents an increase of $3.7 million from July 2009 and makes up 23% of all county welfare and food stamp assistance, according to county records.
Last year, welfare and food stamp issuances totaled nearly $570 million, and the amount is projected to exceed $600 million this year. In addition, county taxpayers spend $550 million in public safety — mostly for jail costs — and nearly $500 million for healthcare for illegal immigrants, Antonovich said.

"The supervisor is very concerned," said Antonovich spokesman Tony Bell. "He believes we have an economic catastrophe on our hands."

Shirley Christensen of the county Department of Public Social Services said the number of households with illegal immigrant parents and U.S. citizen children receiving welfare increased by 7% from January to June of this year.

"With the economy the way it is, a lot of people have had to avail themselves of programs they may not have needed before," Christensen said. "Everyone is taking a hit, including undocumented immigrants."

Amid continued economic gloom, debate has intensified over the public cost of providing benefits to illegal immigrants and their U.S. citizen children. In recent months, calls have grown for a constitutional amendment that would effectively deny citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants, whose numbers increased from 2.7 million in 2003 to 4 million in 2008, according to the Pew Hispanic Center.

Currently, U.S. citizenship is automatically granted to children born on U.S. soil. Last month, U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) announced that he might introduce a constitutional amendment to deny citizenship to children of illegal immigrants. Antonovich and several legal scholars, however, argue that a federal statute would be sufficient to change the law.

But even some immigration hawks are wary of such a move. Steven Camarota of the Center for Immigration Studies, a Washington-based research organization that supports immigration restrictions, said ending birthright citizenship would harm children for their parents' misdeeds, require new federal registration systems and create other problems. The solution, he said, is to continue driving down illegal immigration with tough enforcement.

Question #3:

Student loans and pell grant after graduation?

After I graduate with my Bachlors Degree can I continue to go to college and recieve federal student loans and pell grants for taking classes but not as part of a masters degree?.

Question #4:

Have you been paying attention to how federal stimulus grants?

are being used in your community?
We have a project here called "The Greenline." They are pulling up unused railroad tracks and making a walking trail. It is funded by federal grants. The problem is illegal aliens are constructing it.
Illegals don't pay taxes, they line up at the post office every Friday to send money out of our economy and into Mexico's. They use up social services they don't pay into and they take jobs from United States citizens and legal residents. And my county is leaving itself open to a lawsuit by misusing federal money. Companies awarded contracts involving federal money must verify their employees' eligibility to work in the United States.
Is this going on in your community to? How does this stimulate our economy?
In this case it is the county's fault. The law says they must ensure contracts are given to companies that verify their employees' eligibility to work. It's a federal law regarding federal money.
I'm saying they didn't ensure the company awarded the contract was verifying their employees' eligibility to work as the law states they must.

Question #5:

How to handle a scam? What to do next?

My stupid immigrant friend is about to be scamed. Someone named "Carolyn" from New York called my friend from cell phone 596-909-7969. She asked him for his social and back account number to transfer the funds. And my dumbass friend gave all those information like a pro. And she left her number which is 516-204-7163. Do we contact the bank or police authorities? We checked the bank account and no money has been withdrawn, yet.

Anti-abortion Group Targets Democrats In Radio Ads
Anti-abortion Group Relies On Supreme Court Ruling To Call For Defeat Of 3 Democrats
Font size Print E-mail Share
(AP) WASHINGTON (AP) - An anti-abortion group plans to air radio ads in three congressional races calling for the defeat of Democratic incumbents, among the first ads to capitalize on a Supreme Court ruling this year that freed corporations to directly influence elections.

The group, AUL Action, is targeting Democratic Reps. John Boccieri of Ohio, Christopher Carney of Pennsylvania and Baron Hill of Indiana. AUL Action is the legislative arm of the nonprofit Americans United for Life.

The ads cross a new threshold in campaign communication and embrace the latitude granted by the Supreme Court in its 5-4 decision in January to increase the power of corporations and unions to sway government decisions.

Ad spending is on a record pace as outside groups raise more money from corporations, individuals and unions. As the November general election nears, political strategists believe more groups will follow AUL's path.

AUL Action is incorporated as a nonprofit under section 501(c)4 of the tax code. As such, it now enjoys the expanded rights granted by the court. Before that ruling, groups such as AUL were limited to airing "issue ads" that drew attention to candidates positions but could not recommend whether voters should vote them in or out of office.

Audio clips of the ads were obtained by The Associated Press from a Republican strategist not affiliated with Americans United. The group confirmed the placement of the ads.

Last month, AUL relied on the court's decision to endorse Colorado Republican Jane Norton for the Senate. Norton eventually lost to tea party-backed candidate Ken Buck, a county prosecutor.

AUL Action says Boccieri, Carney and Hill are the first of about a dozen members of Congress it intends to target with ads. The one-minute ads are scheduled to begin airing Friday for one week. They criticize Boccieri, Hill and Carney for voting for President Barack Obama's health care law. In a statement, AUL Action President Charmaine Yoest said the vote amounted to "the largest expansion of federal funding of abortion ever."

"They will not be able to hide from that vote any longer," she said.

Before the bill passed, Obama signed an executive order affirming long-standing restrictions on taxpayer-funded abortions.

Under the law, private plans in new insurance markets opening for business in 2014 can cover abortion, but payment must come from enrollees themselves, not from federal tax credits that will be offered to make premiums more affordable.

In the ads, a female narrators says, "The life of an innocent child may not matter" to Boccieri, Hill and Carney.

"It's time to send someone to Washington who shares our values, not Nancy Pelosi's," the ads say.

(This version CORRECTS to show Boccieri represents Ohio, not Indiana.)

Question #9:

How come Obama & Congress don't want to come clean on the real number of unemployed citizens in USA?

U.S. Dept of labor says 236 million are available to work in USA.
Plus another 74 million are NOT available to work for total of 310 Million.
2009 IRS filings for business & individuals total around 140 million.
236-140=94million "not accounted for in the 2009 tax system".

So how many of approximate 94 million are income-less in poverty?
Say 30 million are not filing quarterlies, illegally operating a small business, that still leaves 64 million. And the media has been cramming 10% in your brains how long now?

How many legal immigrant citizen-ships have been granted the past 35 years in USA Huh?

This goes into deeper issues one being the Federal govt isn't concerning themselves with Tax base revenues cause they aren't even there to get etc. Yet the Federal govt is coming up with billions & trillions to spend all over the world. Some of you youngsters won't follow this but brace yourselves for the Draft!

Question #13:

If Fiornia defeats Boxer in California, will funding for "green energy" dry up in California?

The Boxer/Fiornia senate race is regarded as a dead heat by most polls, if Fiorna defeats Boxer, which is a very real possibility, since the incumbent, Boxer, has not achieved 50 % by the 1st of September, in the polls, will the federal money many 'green energy' companies are depending on still be available, or will those funds be more difficult to obtain? The state of California requires that a certain percentage of electrical power be from non-carbon fuel sources, however the current technology for wind, solar, and other forms of "green energy production" are problematic, highly dependent upon federal grants, and is in need of further research and development to obtain better cost to yield economics. So if Fiornia defeats Boxer will this stop much of that research and development money?
D1981: Good points, but Fiornia reportedly has a personal fortune far in excess of what Boxer has, and may be willing to spend in excess of Boxer, so your contention that Boxer has an advantage due to campaign funds may not be correct. Additionally there is significant voter dissatisfaction among voters of all backgrounds regarding incumbents. It is my belief tht most of the new funds available for Green energy research and development will come from the federal government, not the state of California, which is essentially bankrupt, or near it at this time. Certainly the gubernatorial race is important, but who ever wins will face the problems of dealing with the current fiscal problems, new or even continued funding of green projects may be a thing of the past, unless new federal monies in large amounts can be obtained, right?
California environmental regulations add in the neighborhood of 12% to the cost of many manufacturing companies, this according to an interview CNN did on a CFO of a microchip manufacturer, as opposed to certain other states. So it appears there may be substance to your assertion.
last post was for David, sorry.
F: I have heard your allegations regarding Fiornia and her experience at HP, do you have any documentation to demonstrate your statements?
D1981: I understand what you are saying, so you are saying that federal monies are not that important in California, as most of the capitol for green energy comes from private investors? Thanks for the information, I was ignorant of that fact. I always thought the major source of R and D money for green energy products was the federal government.
Phoenix: I understand that the senate race is a federal office elected by the voters of a state, California, however, do you agree with Dana that most of the money for Green research comes from private companies, or does the federal government through loans and grants, provide most of the money for green energy research?

Question #14:

Why do liberals hate the word socialism when...?

Why do liberals hate when people call their policies socialistic when they obviously are? Check out Click Here and take a good look at what are called "grants" under the Opportunities tab. This means that anyone can apply for a check from the federal government, but I seriously doubt that they'll approve grants to upper-middle class Americans, and that the grants are directed towards lower income families in the hopes that they'll spend the money and maybe even stimulate the economy (so far, I'm not seeing much stimulus).

So in effect, this is a redistribution of wealth, or an attempt at equalizing the spending power of all classes, which is by definition socialism. My question to liberals is, why are you so afraid of the word "socialism" in the face of the truth that you are indeed running a socialistic system in a capitalistic economy?

Question #15:

can I get federal student aid (pell grant) and federal student loans if I owe taxes to the IRS?

Question #16:

Can someone please explain this to me? understandable? (about Smoking age U.S)?

Each state and many localities have different smoking laws, which makes the age of smoking difficult to understand. Any state may set the purchasing age limit lower than 18 years—but at the loss of grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency that otherwise would be given for a natural disaster in the state. However, since many states consider the FEMA grants to be less than useful under many circumstances, these states have chosen to ignore this issue. Typically, nationwide, most retailers will not sell cigarettes or smokeless tobacco to any person younger than 18, with the exception of a number of southern states, involved in the production of tobacco for many generations, that allow the purchase and consumption of tobacco products at an age earlier than 18.

>? are they implying that you can buy cigarette/smoking products under the age of 18 someplace in the united states of america?<
