Anti-abortion Group Targets Democrats In Radio AdsAnti-abortion Group Relies On Supreme Court Ruling To Call For Defeat Of 3 Democrats
Font size Print E-mail Share
(AP) WASHINGTON (AP) - An anti-abortion group plans to air radio ads in three congressional races calling for the defeat of Democratic incumbents, among the first ads to capitalize on a Supreme Court ruling this year that freed corporations to directly influence elections.
The group, AUL Action, is targeting Democratic Reps. John Boccieri of Ohio, Christopher Carney of Pennsylvania and Baron Hill of Indiana. AUL Action is the legislative arm of the nonprofit Americans United for Life.
The ads cross a new threshold in campaign communication and embrace the latitude granted by the Supreme Court in its 5-4 decision in January to increase the power of corporations and unions to sway government decisions.
Ad spending is on a record pace as outside groups raise more money from corporations, individuals and unions. As the November general election nears, political strategists believe more groups will follow AUL's path.
AUL Action is incorporated as a nonprofit under section 501(c)4 of the tax code. As such, it now enjoys the expanded rights granted by the court. Before that ruling, groups such as AUL were limited to airing "issue ads" that drew attention to candidates positions but could not recommend whether voters should vote them in or out of office.
Audio clips of the ads were obtained by The Associated Press from a Republican strategist not affiliated with Americans United. The group confirmed the placement of the ads.
Last month, AUL relied on the court's decision to endorse Colorado Republican Jane Norton for the Senate. Norton eventually lost to tea party-backed candidate Ken Buck, a county prosecutor.
AUL Action says Boccieri, Carney and Hill are the first of about a dozen members of Congress it intends to target with ads. The one-minute ads are scheduled to begin airing Friday for one week. They criticize Boccieri, Hill and Carney for voting for President Barack Obama's health care law. In a statement, AUL Action President Charmaine Yoest said the vote amounted to "the largest expansion of federal funding of abortion ever."
"They will not be able to hide from that vote any longer," she said.
Before the bill passed, Obama signed an executive order affirming long-standing restrictions on taxpayer-funded abortions.
Under the law, private plans in new insurance markets opening for business in 2014 can cover abortion, but payment must come from enrollees themselves, not from federal tax credits that will be offered to make premiums more affordable.
In the ads, a female narrators says, "The life of an innocent child may not matter" to Boccieri, Hill and Carney.
"It's time to send someone to Washington who shares our values, not Nancy Pelosi's," the ads say.
(This version CORRECTS to show Boccieri represents Ohio, not Indiana.)

Question #4:
How to start a small business with bad credit and generally fixed income?
I filed bankruptcy with my husband 2 years ago, and I receive only disability payments every month that barely cover my living expenses. I no longer have a desire to use credit cards- I use only debit now and checks, or cash, and I have been up to date with bills since then. I'd like to get a government grant to rent a nearby building for an office space/coffee-shop type venture; anything that would involve the process of writing poetry, stories, books...I have no business experience but alot of ideas and dreams. I'd like to be able to 1) rent or lease property, 2)clean up the property (it's been abandoned for years) 3)furnish with couch, chair, desk, computer, shelves, etc. 4)stock with office supplies, snacks, coffee-type drinks...5)have a few employees for accounting & legal help, cleaning & maintenance, and 6)clientele who are artists of the pen and paper (writer's and poets who want to be published, as I hope to be someday)I live in SE WI. Any serious guidance would be welcome...
Question #5:
Fiscal conservatives, did you not hear about Hal Rogers?
I'm wondering because I haven't seen any questions about it from all of those that like to reference the 'drain the swamp' phrase, or the rest that go on day after day about government waste.CAGW Names Rep. Hal Rogers August Porker of the Month
WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Citizens Against Government Waste (CAGW) today named Rep. Hal Rogers (R-Ky.) August Porker of the Month for sponsoring legislation that could give federal funding to his daughter’s nonprofit organization, which promotes overseas wildlife protection for cheetahs.
According to a July 26, 2010 article in the Lexington Herald-Leader, “U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers, R-Somerset, is sponsoring a bill to give $5 million a year to conservation groups that work overseas on behalf of endangered ‘great cats and rare canids,’ such as cheetahs, lions and Ethiopian wolves. One group interested in applying, should Rogers’ bill become law, is the Namibia-based Cheetah Conservation Fund. Its grants administrator, Allison Rogers, is the congressman’s daughter.”

Question #6:
have convenience store owners gotten a little more mouthy lately or is it just me?
seems like lately (for some reason) I've been hearing some griping coming from behind the counter. "america this and america that'. One guy even said, "america has all of these rules about running a business. that's why i don't like america" He said this because I told him all of his milk was out of date and he was still peddling it. Another one tried to bust my chops when i refused his 3 pack special on smokes. I told him his 3 pack special wasn't so special. I was just at his store because I didn't feel like going into town because I'd just woke up. It was ten in the morning and what I didn't tell him was that I had ran a crew through it's paces the day and night before and we had kicked some serious a on the job site. This dude puts his hands on his hips and say's that he works everyday like i don't work and i'm just a lazy american. And I look this fck over and think that this guy wouldn't make it through the first hour on one of my jobs and the only reason he got this store was because of government grants that americans paid for that they can't even get because they are americans.no, not more brown. maybe a little hairyer and stinkier. as far as "hard to understand", no, it's pretty clear what they are really saying.

Declassified Senate Investigation Files Reveal Clandestine Israeli PR Campaign in AmericaWASHINGTON, Aug. 18 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Declassified files from a Senate investigation into Israeli-funded covert public relations and lobbying activity in the United States were released by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) on July 23rd, 2010. The subpoenaed documents reveal Israel's clandestine programs for "cultivation of editors," the "stimulation and placement of suitable articles in the major consumer magazines" as well as U.S. reporting about sensitive subjects such as the Dimona nuclear weapons facility.
Documents are now available for download from Click Here include:

These historical documents hold many important lessons for Americans who have long needed—but rarely received—straight reporting on key Middle East issues."

Question #9:
government grants/aid for a business looking to cater to people with disabilities?
I am looking to start a business that would cater towards people with a wide range of disabilities. while I cannot go into the detail of the business, I am curious if there are any government grants or aid available to a business of this nature, I myself am able bodied so it would be strictly for the business itself.Question #10:
How can you get funding from the government, to help start a business?
HiI have developed a software, everyone loves it, but i do not have a budget to market it to a wider audience, I heard from a tv program, that you can apply for government grants, how do i do this?
I really believe in this project, more than the money i need someone to guide me in the right direction, someone who has done this before.
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks
Question #11:
What I'm I politically?
I'm going to describe what I believe the best government could be and I want input as to whether I'm conservative, liberal, libertarian, authoritarian, moderate, centralist, whatever.I believe in a electoral corporate state. I believe there should be a federal government, but it should only really be involved in peoples' lives when it comes to granting freedoms and restrictions. I believe corporations should actually carry out the laws, not the government. I also believe that people should elect both their government and their corporate bosses, where every vote should be completely private and it is impossible to be fired from your job for not voting for a particular boss. I also think that the working class should be able to have the most votes, as they should vote in all their bosses in, from management to executives, whereas mid-management should simply vote their bosses in; just the executives.
I believe that literally everything should be run by corporations and that they should have the right to tax you on public products and services, as I do not believe in tolls in roads. I believe in securing gun rights, the right to life, and the complete and utter right to freedom of speech, media, property (as long as you have the money), and religion.
I believe corporations and businesses should make private schools but should be regulated by the government, I believe that water and electricity should be private but again should be regulated by the government, and the same goes with police, libraries, and the fire department. I also believe that military corporations have the right to invade other countries so long as they obey the laws of electing corporate officials on foreign soil.
I always consider myself a conservative-libertarian, but I'm not sure if it is really that, because my type of corporation is kind of like a government within itself.
What do you think I am politically?
I am not a Fascist because I don't believe in big government or wars for the simple cause of expansion, and I'm not a Tripartist because I really don't believe in labor unions, I mean, I believe they should have the right to organize, but I inherently think that paying labor union dues is wrong and any union that drastic of a cause should be maintained by the government as law.
I DON'T believe corporations as you view them are as good or bad in dealing with services as the government. I believe that electoral corporations would be more beneficial for people than the government or corporations as we know them. To me, electoral corporations would be the balance between the powers of the working class and management/executives. Electoral corporations would take what is best with both worlds: Democracy in government and Entrepreneurism in Business, and combine it to one endeavor.
thumbs down for truth: One government law would be that will be illegal to make the victims of crime pay for the crime itself ... the money for the police would come from the criminals themselves.
As far as potholes are considered, have you've noticed that private roads are much better maintained than their public counterparts? The only thing I don't like about private roads is the constant tolls which just drag traffic down ... I believe that private non-toll roads would be the most satisfactory solution to transportation needs.

Is there something I can do? Can I go to a government body or something to get a grant or help? Does the US government give grants to US residents?
I know a lady who's not a US citizen who wants to start a business with a government grant. Do they offer these types of grants? If you can, please direct me to where I can find them.Question #15:
Getting 95% of the long term unemployed back into work?? A simple problem to solve. What have I overlooked?
Many, many governments say they’ve tried to attack the long term unemployed numbers. There’s currently about 750,000 of them. They’ve tried to do this using various employment training courses such as, Job Club, Executive Job Club, employer bribes, extension of benefits at beginning of work, New Deal, Flexible New Deal, New Deal Aged 18 –24, New Deal 25+, New Deal Partners, New Deal Lone Parents, New Deal Disabled, New Deal 50+, ( yes, there really are this many different New Deal courses !! ), Travel To Interview, Employment On Trial, Job Grants, Setting Up Your Own Business, 13 week assessment courses ( cv and interview training ), 26 week assessment courses ( cv, etc ), benefits while training, etc, etc, etc, etc for the past 40 years or more(?). Just type ‘ Unemployed courses ‘ or ‘ Unemployment Training ‘ into your search engine to see what I mean. As you can imagine, a considerable sized industry of private firms has grown up around the unemployed and it’s you the tax payer who pays them every penny they earn. One course I was on was pocketing £15 more per week per person than I was getting on benefit. There were 30 people and two staff on this 13 week course. Work it out. You see, methinks it’s to their advantage to keep healthy numbers of unemployment fodder masticating through their industrial-scale training machines. There has to be a connection.Maybe I’m being naïve, but isn’t there something all governments have overlooked ( or overlooked on purpose ) that costs a fraction of the cost of what they do at the moment? The unemployed are painted as unemployable yet most long term unemployed I’ve known would be more employable and experienced than a lot of work colleagues.
The answer? A simple change in the law. A positive discrimination law that says that every company must have a quota ( say 10% to start off with, increasing by a percentage per year until there’s no long termers left ) of new employees taken from the long term unemployed. Of course big business will holler and squeal about this very loudly, but we’ve already heard them squeal like pigs before the minimum wage but that has actually added to employment figures.
Government employment schemes at present
The usual rhetoric.
Nick P – no, no, no, that’s not what I’m saying at all. I’ve said quite must have a quota of NEW employees taken from the long term unemployed. “ It’s only going to work during periods of economic growth obviously. No new jobs = no need to qualify for the quota.
Erik – it’s not forcing companies to hire. It just forces them to hire a certain quota of long term unemployed. How many new employees join your company. Some companies might not even reach 10 new employees. 1 in 10 isn’t too much to ask. It just gives the long term unemployed an extra fighting chance to be employed. At present, they’ve got no chance. No, they don’t do it in construction. What are you talking about?
L – I was thinking more of the wasted billions and billions that tax payers pay to the ‘training’ industry. But you make good points.
Lololol – it creates fluidity in the unemployment pool. Stirs it up a bit so that the stigmafied/persecuted aren’t settling on the bottom all the time and gives them a taste of work. Years of union tinkering have created a fluid employee pool in favour of employers. It’s time to do the same to the unemployed. We can’t keep blaming the unemployed for a problem that is essentially created by employers and the present system. You’re using the discredited minimum wage argument/card.
Whycantisgoodenough – 1st para- yes you have a point but I doubt there are many unemployed doctors. My guess is that they’ve been struck off already. At my doctors practice there are five staff and four doctors. How many people have been getting JSA for 20 years? That’s just ridiculous. That’s what disability benefit is for.
2nd para – it doesn’t matter where the job is advertised, something has to be done to make employers change their attitudes and blow the ‘stigma’ out of the water as was done with the minimum wage. 3rd para – so now you’re saying there has to unemployed. Lol. You’re giving the idea a 100% success rate. Thanks. If things get that bad then we can always let a few more immigrants in. Last para – look around your own workplace. How many idiots are there? If there are none, wouldn’t an office idiot brighten your day and lift office mood? Not much fun for the idiot of course. The wasteful ‘training’ industry is a waste of money and doesn’t work. The country can’t afford either the unemployed or the unemployment training providers.
Crow – the largest influx of immigrants was from the US last month. 21,000. The biggest drop was in Europeans 29,000+, they’ve had enough and are off home.
Hoarseman – I don’t get what you say. Company of 1000 people employs 50 new staff. 5 new staff are from the long term pool. That’s 0.5% of staff. Some will swim, some will sink but at the very least they’ve got to allowed to get in the water.
Fuller89 – I agree. Jobsearching costs money as many of you will know. Present JSA is hardly enough to pay bills and feed yourself. Usually it’s the feeding that loses out when faces with court summones.
Mechanic – Sorry I didn’t hear the announcement about the 2.5 million new minimum wage jobs. I must have missed that one. We already pay 100,000 to play about with their expensive toys when they’re not working in Iraq or Afghanistan. Maybe it’s time they could do some community work for their bread.
Alan W – Well they’ve been around for 30 years. I just assumed there must have been something under the Labour governments of the 70’s. Well the fact is that it’s now grown into a hugely wasteful ‘industry’.
Thanks for all of your answers. They were informative and cover a wide viewpoint. It's not an easy nut to crack.
Elephant's Child - LMAO but unfortunately true.
Alan W - all governments try to create employment through some scheme or other but the long termers are always overlooked.

What do you think Liberals are up to today? Can you name some things?
Let's see what the neo-nazi liberals are up to today:- Still wanting no disagreement with their agenda
- Still wanting anyone that doesn't agree with them to die
- Still trying to ban freedom of speech
- Still burning flags
- Still trying to end all religion
- Still operating the GITMO prison
- Still crying racist every time some one says anything about Obama
- Still taxing all businesses into bankruptcy
- Still trying to tax all citizens onto food stamps
- Still trying to grant amnesty to all illegal immigrants
- Still giving all illegal immigrants welfare and free medical care
- Still calling this "recovery summer"
- Still forcing a government takeover of the economy
- Still telling us that things are getting better
- Still claiming the stimuus bill saved jobs
- Still not spending half the stimulus money
- Still paying off the unions
- Still pushing cap and trade
Yep ... things are normal ... what a sick bunch.
Question #20:
I am unemployed and trying to get into the personal fitness business. Are there any grants for this?
Certification cost roughly around $800 from an accredited online institutuion. I am sure I will be able to find work in the trade because I've done my research and have been thinking of doing this for a while. Are there any kind of government grants available for me to go on with this? I am 25yrs old and currently staying with my parents who are not supporting me other then putting a roof over my head. Thanksuhh no I'm not joking. I forgot to mention that it takes a couple couple months to a year to prepare and study the material in order to take the test and pass. So I don't know about the loans. I hear they have crazy interest rates and who would give me a loan without a job?
